The Short Version

Four things we hold to on every brief, whether it's a product launch or a bad week that needs managing carefully.

Find the real story first

Most pitches fail because they're built backward, from what a company wants said rather than what's actually true and interesting. We start by finding the version of the story that survives contact with a skeptical editor. If we can't find one, we say so before we waste your week and ours.

Say what we mean

No brief goes out with three meanings stacked on top of each other. We write one clear line, test it against the hardest question a journalist could ask, and only then put it in front of anyone. If a message needs a paragraph of caveats to survive scrutiny, it isn't ready.

Know the room before we knock

We do the unglamorous work of knowing who actually covers what, what they've run recently, and what would make this pitch different from the six others in their inbox that morning. Relevance beats volume. We'd rather send five pitches that land than fifty that don't.

Report what happened, not what we hoped would happen

Coverage reporting should be a fact sheet, not a mood board. You'll get a plain account of what ran, where, and what changed, alongside the near-misses and the doors that didn't open. We'd rather you trust the good news because you've seen us tell you the flat news too.
